As of the 18th of this month, this account will no longer support the paid account features it enjoyed over the few years it was running. Although I won't be deleting this account, it will become a Basic free account. Some posts may disappear completely and the layout may also revert back to a default. I will no longer be posting here as my new permanent account suits me fine for this stage in my life. If you wanted to copy anything or delete anything in comments, feel free, I'll not be offended. Anybody wanting the code for my layout, which you can tailor to your own specs very easily, has the next couple of days to contact me and get those details. If you haven't already let me know that you want to come with me over to the continuing account, please do so in comments here as the poll making option will no doubt disappear too and take the running poll posts with it. I've already thanked everyone for their kindness and consideration over the last few years, that they've afforded lucifein safe harbour on their friends lists, so I'll just bid everyone fair sailing and farewell.

This journal has been closed for now, if not for good. The post I made previous to this has a poll for anyone and especially now, any stragglers to let me know if they would like to join me in a more intimate journal. I check that poll regularly. I'd appreciate your involvement. At some point, if I decide to completely abandon this journal, I'll fix a fancy banner here and make every entry Private. 'Til then, Ars ok fridar and thanks for all the fish. And thank you to all those who participated in whatever capacity, that helped this journal survive as long as it did and for all the lessons I gleaned from owning it and passing the years with you.

poll - Dear Journal

For some time, my posting here has caused me strife, external and internal. It's got to the point that I have 15 different custom groups to accomodate the countless leagues in difference between my many friends here. This is tiring, needless and frustrating, making it often times difficult to keep this journal my own. There is a certain amount of façade needed to keep everyone happy and ticking along. It's bogging me down. Below is a poll pertaining to a possible solution. Please fill it in. No-one else can see your answers but me. I have also made the comments in this post screened, in case anyone needed some clarification or to ask a question. Thank you in advance.

View Poll: How now, friesian cow?

Update: 3rd June '07

15 of the 18 that wanted to join me, so far, have been added. I'd have to think about the other 3. They're either completely new to me or on friendlier terms with my husband which may mean I could not speak freely about my home life, in the journal.

Update: 4th June '07

3 more folks added to the new journal.

I was thinking, I shouldn't bother to post again here to let people know thaey'd been added, or just in case some of you had missed this post entirely. But frankly, if you hadn't noticed you'd been added by someone new or you haven't given this post the time of day, that's pretty much my answer, right there. >:)

I'll check back periodically to see if there are any straglers who were out of town etc. but it would be more advantageous from this point on, if anyone not already requesting to be added, post a comment to alert me, seeing as the poll doesn't send notifications of new tickees. Thanks. x

Update: 9th June '07

6 more into the new journal, plummet.

Update: 11th June '07

Another 3 old friends on the new journal.

Update: 26th june '07

Well there's a rather healthy 40+ folks added over on the new LJ. Most of those added have realised and added me in return. One or two folks still not knowing as they don't seem to check their journal or their friend of list too often. But as it seemed that maybe 40 or so of you were constants in this journal, it's fitting that those few have come with me.

Also Congratulations to both lucy_pointycat and rhandolph on their recent marriage.
Absence

Some of you may have noticed that I haven't posted as often as I normally do, over the last three days. It's alright. It's nothing you've said. It's just that with Frank's passing, I was struck harder than I thought I would be. Enough sadness to leave me unable to celebrate Fallon's birthday with her on monday, which would be the day I returned from Hellywood and found out he had gone. So I appologise to chied for not being my bouncy self. I heard nothing from you guys about an LN this evening, so I'm gathering that you might be either partied out or as skint cash-wise, as we are until payday. I will try to make up for this somehow. I did try to buy you a birthday present the week before, but you weren't very compliant >:P Hehheheh.

In this post I also want to send my love to Lauren and all of Frank's friends and family at this time once again and tell you all, that although I wish I could be in Philly tomorrow for his funeral, unfortunately, finances wont allow it. All my best wishes to you all.

Normal service will be resumed shortly.

Grunnlovsdag - Syttende Mai

Happy Norwegian Constitution Day

17th of May is a celebration of the day in 1814 when Norway's constitution was signed in the town of Eidsvoll, Norway. Bunads and Flags. Traditional breakfast and then street parties held in both Kirkwall, the Orkneys and in Norway, of course. It's a double day for me usually. Now, after phone calls fromfamily members sread across those two countries and having eaten ice cream the moment I woke up, here are some images to get you into the mood. (I must also get going over to Lauren's rp game or I'll get a serious spanking. Not a bad thing, but I hate letting folks down. Hade!)

Got a call from Ben (PO3 Balden), a good friend of our's and I'm taking him out on the town tonight. Not sure where we will end up but I know we'll be starting at the Zombie. Will report later. Love to those I miss and Rich is home if some of you wanna spend some time online or phone with him. He was too tired after a week at sea to be messing about with corsetted girlies. >:P

Ciao!

Cute

Went out with some of the sailors just now. A quick jaunt. While we were out the guys decided to pretend Ninja. Thats 5 guys Ninjaring at each other. Young lads are so non-datable but so cute. I have to regain my libido. This is getting silly. I watched them prank about and felt like I was watching my sons play in the back garden. Ugh! I need therapy!!!!!.... Or a Daddy. As the only man older than me is Father Time himself. I could be in for a dry season lasting the rest of my natural. But they were so handsome and cute and testostronie and what was even funnier was that as I do do their laundry time to time, one of them actually shouted to the others that they shouldn't get grass stains on their clothes, especially not in front of me. Mwhahaha. Trained. Bless.

Talking of cute and young.. isn't that Johnathan Rhys Meyers very dashing? He is how I thought Lucas Black would grow up to look like. I watched American Gothic when it was first on last century and became fond of the kid's character and the actor himself. Then seeing him in Jarhead was very strange. Obviously little boy actors grow up into big boy actors but it still floors me that the Jarhead Lucas sprnag from American Gothic Lucas. Looking at him when he was younger, I imagined he'd grow up to look as Johnathan Rhys Meyers does. maybe it's because Johnathan is such a pretty lad that he has that not grown up look to him, whereas Lucas lost his look of innocence?

Either I am über-broody or just looking for some nice surrogate sons to waste m time and mother love on. i don't feel connected to girls the same way. Not sure why. It's probably something really base and primal, but guys have hurt me a whole lot more than any girl ever has. I hope I'm not sliding into some stereotype older woman. A show of hands please... who thinks I'll end up the childless old Cat Lady from the end terrace house?

Indifference Is So Painful.

It's a sad state of affairs when a wonderful creature, in an attempt to satiate her deep seated desire to push her boundries, is left, resorting to merely seeing how long she can stay awake. Looking out from her natural perimetre at a landscape so sparce. Everything she is, burgeoning on that precipice. One sound peels out into the inky black. A long lingering and soulful howl.

Visual Delights

Having finished watching the entire American Gothic series, I have moved on to Point Pleasant. i have about 2 years worth of telly, British and American to catch up on., so while there's bugger all on from monday evening, after Riches on FX 'til friday night before Most Haunted, my week days and nights (they tend to bleed into each other) are spent baking cleaning drawing, tying and watching DVDs. At least I'm a cheap to kepp housewife. He doesn't realise how good he's got it, I swear.

I received my Badadas Horse-chestnut Extract Shower Gel and Bath Oil today, so I may well soak in the tub while watching the series on the bedroom flatscreen.

Wooly hat and scarf for Darian's son almost finished. Jeep yellow with his name Aydin embroided in black on the front and a black pom-pom on top. The scarf in yellow too but with black fringing at on the ends.

Hopefully the Bottom series DVDs from roxie_malone will turn up soon and I can introduce Darian and Rich to more scintilating Brit humour or the perverse kind. Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson are ace. By the way, Roxie has more DVDs for sale at a rather reasonable rate of £6.50 and is willing to figure something out with folks from all over. Check her wares out at frejas_attic.

Muchies have hit.
Anybody up on American symbology?

So, a lady we know was giving her stuff away and she knew I was interested in picture frames and she saved me a whole load of them. They all came with images already in them but frankly not to my taste. She was fine with us just using the frames. the pictures inside them didn't hold any emotional value. Amidst the frames I received, was a needlework sampler. If it has any age, it's most likely only 30 years old it not younger. I don't know a lot about symbology used by American factions of religious or political bent, so if anyone on my friends list recognises anything in the sampler, please let me know what you can tell me about it. It's probably Jewish, Masonic and/or Military. She has no clue either. Thank you.

Suggesta-Mate

Could any of you good and true folks on my friends list, suggest a good LJer or two, for me to add? Someone that might get a kick out of friending me, even. I swear I'll play nice 'til they tell me they want naughty. This suggesta-mate meme was inspired by something similar in sokkmonkey's journal.
